FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES

Fall FEST School Fundraiser (9/24/10 or 10/1/10):  The single most important fundraiser of the year.  Proceeds from this fundraiser are used to offset the Parish subsidy of the school.

Spring HASA Fundraiser:   HASA’s main source of income for the year.  In the past has been the 50/50 raffle and Comedy Night.

Scrip:  Scrip is a rebate program currently available to us through Acme and Giant.  These supermarkets sell us gift cards in $25 denominations, at a 5% discount.  The school sells these gift cards to school families and parishioners at face value.  This 5% profit made by the school enables families to receive a $50 discount on their tuition for every $1,000 worth of gift cards purchased with a maximum discount of $200 per family per fiscal school year (7/1 thru 6/30).  Profit made from parishioner sales where tuition credit is not sought, goes towards school expenses.  *Assistance is needed to sell these gift cards after Saturday and Sunday masses.

HOSPITALITY/SOCIAL

Back-to-School Night (9/15/10):

Back-to-School night will take place on Wednesday, September 15th.  Following the introduction by the principal, there are three 15-minute sessions meeting with homeroom teachers.  Afterward, HASA provides refreshments in the cafeteria for parents to reconnect and to meet new parents.

Back to School Picnic (9/17/10):

This picnic takes place Friday, September 17th from approximately 4:00 to 7:00 pm.  Desserts are requested from parents who signed up to bake for school events.  Hot dogs are provided, or any other food the Chair would like to provide.  This is a rain or shine event.

Class Cocktail Party (Fall):

One family from each class agrees to host a cocktail party for their specific class.  This gives parents an opportunity to reconnect with parents and to meet new families that may have joined the class.  The host family is requested to hold the party during the early fall and joint hosting with another class is encouraged.  Guests are requested to bring either dessert, appetizer or wine.  The distribution of food requests is at the host’s discretion.

School Open Houses; Volunteers needed for 1-2 hours to give tours to prospective families, help setup and/or cleanup or provide baked goods. Typically there are at least 2 Open Houses during the school year with one during Catholic Schools Week.

Pizza Bingo (date TBA):

Tons of fun for the kids!  Guest number caller. Pizzas are pre-ordered for those families attending and everyone plays bingo.  Break even event financially.

Last Day of School Coffee (6/17/11):  Families meet in the cafeteria for refreshments before going away for the summer break.

Catholic Schools Week (1/30/11-2/5/11): Catholic Schools week begins on Sunday with Mass, followed by an open house at the school.  The remainder of the week provides various activities that celebrate our Catholic faith and follows the theme provided by the Archdiocese.  An education fair will be featured.

Spring Fair (5/13/11):  The fair is a rain or shine event and will take place on Friday, May 13th, 2011.  Aside from various games, a dunk tank, hot and cold food served from the cafeteria, specialty foods from carts and lots of prizes, this event requires the most volunteers.

Parents are needed to supervise morning recess from 10-10:20 AM, rain or shine.  A criminal background check and child abuse clearance must be on file in the school prior to volunteering.  Recess can take place outside or in the gym, or in the classeooms if the weather is inclement.
