This week 4th, 5th, 6th grades went to the Elmwood Park Zoo for a field trip. Some students had the opportunity to feed giraffes while others got to see what it's like to have birds land on their heads and arms. Here we see a few of the animals that escaped their enclosure and had time to pose for a picture.

The third grade finished their Publishing Center experience with a celebration in the library. Mrs. Hennessy read a few of the books to everyone. The children wrote an original story, volunteers helped them to edit their story, then the children illustrated their books. The students received a copy of their book to take home. A second copy of their book stays in the library for the whole school to enjoy. A big thank you goes to Mrs. Perretta runs the whole program. The third graders love this experience!

Confirmation and First Holy Communion sacraments were received at St. Monica this past week.

Congratulations to our Reading Olympics teams!  On May 10 we brought home a red and a blue ribbon.  The Bulldog Bookworms scored high points and cooperated as a team earning 46 points for a red ribbon!  The Reading Madness brought home the blue with 53 points!

Second and third grade had a great time on their field trip to the Herr's Factory and Nottingham Park!  They learned so much about how chips and pretzels are made and packaged.  Tasting fresh chips hot off the line was a highlight of the trip!

The 4th graders have been working hard on memorizing a chosen poem to perform in class. This year an extra special event will happen! We will perform in a stage-like arena at a parent's home! The class is invited to perform at the Holmes' Party Barn. They have prepared with costumes and props to make this the best show ever. Poetry Cafe will be awesome!

SNS students showed well at the BSHS Art Show. All the students, with work in the show, will receive a Certificate of Participation and a Blue Ribbon.
