About Our Lower School

Our Mission
St. Norbert School aspires to educate the whole child by providing appropriate learning opportunities within a Christ-focused atmosphere that enable each student to become an active, competent learner. Within a small classroom environment, our teachers provide a strong foundation in academic skills while nurturing each student’s moral, spiritual, physical and social development. Students are encouraged to ask questions, seek answers, and to learn from their teachers and peers.
Our Catholic faith is what brings St. Norbert School together as a community and is conveyed in all aspects of the students’ academic life. The students participate in monthly liturgies, feasts of Mary and the saints, and celebrations of the liturgical seasons. The sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Eucharist are annual events for our second grade students. A spirit of community service is an integral part of student life and all students are encouraged to embrace service as part of their baptismal call.
Academic Curriculum
The K-2nd grade curriculum consists of religion, social studies and science with a strong focus on English language arts and mathematics. The integration of one on one iPad technology allows for the reinforcement of basic, formative skills as well as exposure to various learning tools and applications.
The students in Grades 3 through 4 continue to expand and deepen their studies in English language arts enabling them to grow in the areas of reading, language, writing, speaking and listening across the curriculum. Our students build upon their prior mathematical knowledge to develop their higher level problem-solving and calculation skills. Opportunities for development of reading strategies, reinforcement of math concepts and reasoning, written language enrichment and interest-based research are available with student-dedicated iPad technology and chromebooks.
St. Norbert School follows the academic guidelines prescribed by the Office of Catholic Education of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Elementary Schools.
