| Dear Parishioners, I am so excited to be at St. Norbert School! Since my arrival in July, I have felt the warmth and love from your parish through the people I have met. I feel honored to be the principal of such a great school. The teachers, staff and I are blessed to be able to help guide, educate, and nurture the children in their Catholic faith. My family has a long history of Catholic education. My brothers, sisters and I graduated from St. Joseph School in Downingtown, whereas, my husband’s family graduated from St. Cecilia in Coatesville. We are all graduates of Bishop Shanahan High School. Our sons graduated from Coatesville Area Catholic Elementary School as well as Shanahan. As a product of Catholic education and a Catholic educator for 30 years, I know how important it is to continue to develop the faith formation of a child. You are the primary educators – we are your support staff. I invite you to come visit our school and see the great things that are happening. Without your support we would not be able to do all the wonderful things that are happening at St. Norbert School. Thank you! Try to enjoy these lazy days of summer despite the heat. NEWS UPDATES for Pre-K Class and CARES Program
Pre-K Class:
The Pre-K Class is for children who are four years old by Sept. 1, 2010. The Pre-K curriculum follows the Archdiocesan Guidelines for Early Childhood and is taught by a Certified Early Childhood teacher with more than 20 years’ experience.
Beginning with the 2010/2011 school year:
Ø Saint Norbert School will offer a 3-day program as well as a 5-day program for Pre-K. Class times for both programs are 8:30 am to 11:30 am. Early drop-off is available from 7:45 am.
Ø Saint Norbert School will offer the after- Pre-K CARES program for Pre-K students from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm. Students are able to stay until 6 PM by using the after-school CARES program. Lunch Bunch will continue to be offered and will also be included in the Pre-K CARES program.
CARES Program:
The after-school CARES program is available to all students at Saint Norbert School, from Kindergarten through 8th grade from 3:00 to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday. The program provides a safe, caring environment for children who need extended care during the day.
The CARES program for the 2010/2011 school year:
Ø There will be no rate increase. Current CARES rates will still apply.
Ø New extracurricular activities will be introduced: this fall look for the return of special after school programs (Previously, we have offered: yoga, knitting, sports, dance, and other arts. (Please contact us if you would like to volunteer to offer a special program.)
Ø “Sports CARES” will be offered after school for students who need supervision before the start of their sports practice or game. Available on a daily or weekly basis, the Sports CARES program is available for a nominal fee and offers supervised care until the coaches arrive.
