The school year is off to a great start!
As our teachers are planning their curriculum, they are expanding their STEM lessons to integrate the arts, as well as the teachings of our Catholic faith. As a result, our students are engaging in hands-on, collaborative activities involving their Catholic faith, science, technology, engineering, art and math. Different grade-level C-STEAM activities will be highlighted in future blog posts.
We are grateful for the many improvements to our campus this summer, including:
- A sparkling, new dishwasher and new metal chairs around the tables in the dining hall. These additions were made possible with proceeds from last spring’s Diamond Derby event.
- Math fact staircase stickers that give students the opportunity to practice their 7 and 8 multiplication tables every time they walk up the back staircase. Thanks to Mrs. Leif, our CCIU math specialist, for the great idea and installation of the stickers.
- A new microphone system (used every afternoon for dismissal) and new stage curtains for upcoming school productions. Thank you SNS Class of 2018 for donating these wonderful gifts!
In a joint effort, the parish and school have begun to examine ways to further enhance the security of our entire campus. The Safety and Security Committee is in the process of identifying requirements, meeting with vendors, and obtaining estimates.
Thank you to the families who participated this September in our peanut butter & jelly collection. Thanks to your generosity, 96 jars of peanut butter and 75 jars of jelly will be sent to St. Gabriel’s Food Cupboard. In October, we are collecting socks to support homeless and disadvantaged children, women, and men in Chester County, and we are holding our annual “Pink Out” Day to benefit the Unite for Her organization.
Enjoy the Fall weather!
