While the transition to distance learning has been a challenge for many students, it has been especially difficult for those without the technology available at home to attend online classes and complete assignments. This was the reality for many students of East Side Charter School in Wilmington, Del.

When St. Norbert’s upper school math teacher Mrs. Kristina Harlan heard about this particular situation, she decided to see how our school could help. She and technology teacher Mr. Todd DeSimone worked together to locate and prepare 11 iPads for donation.

Megan Kelly, a special education teacher at East Side Charter School, was thrilled when she learned that her children would be receiving donated iPads. And the students were even more excited when she surprised them with their very own devices to have home with them!

Thank you to Mrs. Harlan for sharing this opportunity with us and for Mr. DeSimone for making it happen. Our students have been very fortunate to be able to use our iPads to keep up with their teachers and fellow classmates and expand their learning through digital apps and the Internet. And now we’ve shared that experience with our new friends at East Coast Charter School.

Even when apart, the St. Norbert School community always finds ways to give back together.
